I don’t have time to write poetry. Life is too full. Too much friction. Too many tasks left to be done. It's such a silly addiction. This is ridiculous. It really is. I have better things to do with my time. After all, I’m an important person. Why bother thinking up words that rhyme? I have bills to pay, investments to make. Money’s what matters. Nothing compares. There’s just no time for pointless verses that no one reads… or even cares. Poetry!? Please! What’s the point? Words are just… words. Meaningless symbols. Don’t get distracted by sunsets or silence. Reject any phrase that even vaguely resembles. I’m a serious person, with serious business. No time for feelings, or wonder, or fluff. I invest in results, not daydreams or whispers. Poetry’s soft. I prefer tough. I have meetings to lead, markets to chase, quarterly goals, and a watch that tracks sleep. What could a poem possibly offer me that doesn’t cost more than it’s worth to keep? Besides… poems are incredibly suspicious. They sneak in between thoughts with a grin. You think you’re safe in your clever disdain, and then — BAM! — the metaphors begin. Which is why I’m telling you now, quite clearly: Don’t mess with poems. Avoid that descent. You might start noticing birds. Or silence. You might even feel… content. You might remember a smell, or a moment, or the way the light shifted one day. You might stop scrolling for three whole minutes just to hear what your own heart might say. No, there’s no time for that sort of thing. Get back to the grind. Keep scrolling. Don’t pause. Algorithms don’t reward you for feeling what’s real. The machine hates it when you realize its flaws. No need to comment. Just play it cool. We wouldn't want to start a trend. Engagement breeds reflection. And we both know where that ends. So don’t write poems. And don’t read them either. Ignore the urge. Go back to routines. Click something else. Look quickly away. And no matter what… never ask what it means.
Oh holy moly
A genius in dis guise!
Definitely one for posterity !
You rock Glenn!
Oh holy ordinary!
Gimme m’phone
I was on a rolling roll
Fun to watch images scroll!
Takes little effort
The day just scrolls by
No need to get active
Just sit
let reality pass by
I wonder what others are doing
While I’m being informed
This scene is revealing
What’s on the scoreboard
Events and opinions all to be seen
A colorful life galore to install
I know what you’re thinking
Is it time to adjust?
I’m busy you see
Doing what I must!
Definitely will I take your advice
not get into poetry.
I know it’s a vice.
